City Hall Reopened at 360 N Main St.

City Hall has moved from its previous, leased offices into the new, permanent building at 360 N. Main St. at 7 a.m.

The public can accesses the same services at the new location during the same business hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Departments located at the building include Administration, Billing and Finance, Building Inspection, Planning, Community Relations and Human Resources.

A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Roll Call

Chair Ronda Detlefsen called the June 5, 2018 Regular Session of the Planning Commission to order at 6:30 p.m.  Commissioners present:  Jennifer Bleil, Ronda Detlefsen, Adam Gebhart, Jason Heisler, Becky Keogh, Kylie Pentecost and Patrick Staber.

Others present: Dean Wheatley, Ryan Heiar, Tracey Mulcahey, Scott Peterson, Kevin Trom, Evan Runkle, Ben Mitchell, Gary Watts, Bev Seelman, Duane Musser, Brian Watts and other interested parties.

Agenda Approval

Bleil moved, Heisler seconded to approve the agenda. The vote was all ayes. Agenda approved.

Jeff Mekota Site Plan

Staff Presentation

Wheatley presented the request from Jeff Mekota to approve a site plan for a commercial warehouse development in the I-380 Industrial Park Area west of I-380.

Applicants Presentation

Ben Mitchell, MMS Consultants, was present on behalf of the applicant and offered to answer questions.

Public Comments

No comments were offered.

Questions and Comments

The Commission discussed the application including windows only on one side, the location of HVAC units, additional parking and on street parking on Stoner Court.

Recommendation to the City Council

Pentecost moved, Keogh seconded to recommend approval to the City Council of the site plan application with no conditions. After discussion, the vote was: ayes – Pentecost, Detlefsen, Bleil, Staber, Gebhart, Keogh, Heisler; nays – none.  Motion carried.

 

Watts Group Rezoning

Staff Presentation

Wheatley presented the request from the Watts Group to approve residential rezoning for property located at the southeast corner of Kansas Avenue and St. Andrews Drive.

Applicants Presentation

Gary Watts, Watts Group, was present on behalf of the applicant.  He presented information on the vision for the project.  The Commission discussed the application with the applicant.

Public Comments

Bev Seelman, 2790 Kansas Avenue, spoke regarding her concerns about the rezoning application.  Duane Musser, Watts Group, spoke regarding the concerns presented.

Questions and Comments

The Commission discussed the application including the Alexander Way connection, annexation, zoning densities, zoning type layouts, and the layout generally.

Recommendation to the City Council

Heisler moved, Keogh seconded to recommend approval to the City Council of the rezoning application with the proposed compromise plan from the staff report. After discussion, the vote was: ayes – Keogh, Detlefsen, Bleil, Heisler; nays –  Pentecost, Staber, Gebhart.   Motion carried. 

Approval of previous minutes

Gebhart moved, Staber seconded to approve the minutes of the May 1, 2018 meeting. The vote was all ayes. Minutes approved.

Old Business

No old business was presented

New Business

Wheatley several applications for next month’s meeting. The Board of Adjustment approved several patio applications.

Adjournment

Keogh moved, Gebhart seconded to adjourn at 7:48 p.m. The vote was all ayes. Meeting adjourned.
