City Hall Closed Wednesday, April 24, for Move

City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, so staff can move from the current, leased offices to the new, permanent building.

The final day of operations at 3 Quail Creek Center will be Tuesday, April 23.

City Hall will reopen at 360 N. Main St. at 7 a.m. on Thursday, April 25.

A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for Tuesday, May 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

  1. Public Comments/Concerns: Open to public for comments and concerns; 5 minutes per person.
  1. Board Appointments: Member terms set to expire June 30: Dan Skemp and Jef Farland, Resubmit application by May 20 for consideration; Mayor Interviews: May 23-June 3; June 14: Appointments made at City Council Mtg.
  1. Building and Grounds Report: Parks Monthly Report
  1. Summer Preparations: May is a busy month to get ready for summer: Staff hires at all positions; Outdoor Pool – power wash, crack repair, install new gutters and begin to fill; Huge thanks to Parks Dept in repairing crack.
  1. Upcoming Events: Community Gardens – planting (May 1), St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs (May 25), Outdoor Pool Opening (May 28), Free Swimming Lessons (June 3), Free Fishing Weekend (June 4), Summer Camp & Summer Lunch (June 6), Summer Swim Lessons – first session (June 6)
  1. Memorial Day Weekend Hours: Saturday-Monday, May 28-30:          Regular Hours: 8:00AM-6:00PM Outdoor Pool: 12(Noon)-6:00PM

Board Members Present:    Dan Skemp, Scott Stahmer, Jef Farland, Jami Maxson, Jeff Kellbach
Others Present:  Shelly Simpson, Brian Motley and Tim Hamer
Meeting called to order: 7:00 pm
 
NEW BUSINESS:
 

  1. Approve minutes: Minutes from April 7 meeting approved (with correction of date).

 

  1.   Board Appointments: Dan Skemp and Jef Farland both have expiring terms.

Dan will not be reapplying (taking job in Kansas City).

3..   Building and Grounds Report: Treated ash tress for EAB.  Mowing and trimming as time and weather allows.  April 9 was Muddy Creek Clean-Up day, thanks to those that helped.  Prepared community garden sies.  Met with contractors on proposed solar project.  Water and sewer complete at concession site.

  1. Summer Preparations: May was busy getting ready for summer programming, finishing hires, preparing and repairing outdoor pool. Cracks had to be fixed in pool, as it ages may need to look at more expenditures to keep functioning.  Also performing pool facility study to look at ccity pool needs..

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Recreation Monthly Report: April was start of registration for programs such as summer camp.  Still approx 200 children/session in swim lessons.  Lifeguard class had 14 participants, will have another session this month.  Soccer popular, waiting list for both sessions.  Spring Shed and Scavenger Hunt had 56 participants.  Summer camps nearly full.

 

  1. Other old business: Discussion of possibly determining number of people attending w/ ball rentals (estimate $ coming to town).
