Ranshaw Way (Highway 965) widening to begin Monday

Weather permitting, on Monday, April 16, 2018, work will begin to widen Ranshaw Way (Highway 965) to five lanes between Zeller and Cherry streets. The first stage of widening work will occur on the east side of the street. Two lanes of traffic will remain open through the project, however the speed limit and lane width will be reduced to allow crews to begin utility work and install storm sewers.

In addition to widening, the project will also construct curb and gutter along each side of the road from Cherry Street to Penn Street, construct trails and sidewalks, provide landscaping and biocells and reconstruct the intersections and pedestrian crossings at Zeller Street, Commercial Drive, Cherry Street, and Community Drive.  As the construction progresses throughout the year, it will be necessary to close the east or west sides of these intersections (except Commercial Drive) for a time to complete the reconstruction work.  Public notices will be issued in advance of those closures noting the detour routes.

Work is expected to continue through November, however there are financial incentives in place for the contractor, Streb Construction, to complete the work earlier.

Drivers are asked to use caution around the work site, allow extra travel time, and find alternative routes when possible. Details and updates on this and other North Liberty construction projects are available at northlibertyiowa.org/projects.
