Goats on the Go come to North Liberty

Per the Iowa City Community School District, Penn Elementary will be cleared of weeds and underbrush by some goats starting this weekend. The release from the school district:

The Iowa City Community School District has contracted with a company called Goats on the Go to provide an alternate method of clearing weeds and underbrush on school property.  The goats will be arriving mid to late day on Saturday, May 14th at Penn Elementary School in North Liberty. The goats will remain at Penn Elementary until Wednesday, May 18th, at which time they will be moved to Shimek Elementary for four days.  The goats will be primarily adult females with some of their juvenile goats.
The goats are very shy by nature and should not be approached directly.  The owners will be present at both sites the first couple of days and do have one young goat that is very friendly and can be available for a photo opportunity with permission.  The owners are requesting that the goats not be fed by students or the public at large.
The District is excited by the opportunity to provide a friendly and alternative means to managing our forested areas and playgrounds and the educational opportunity that it provides for our students.  For further information, please feel free to contact the District’s Facility Management Office at 319-688-1020 or for more information regarding Goats on the Go and their services visit goatsonthego.com.
