Join the Fire Department at Salute to Summer

August 23, 2010 — The Fire Department’s 2nd Annual Salute to Summer will be held this Saturday, the 28, at Bobber’s Grill at 1850 Scales Bend Road in North Liberty. The event starts at 11am and concludes at 11:30pm. There will be inflatable rides for the kids (11am-7pm), live music by the Cedar Island Band, a Biker Poker Run (10am-3:30pm), BINGO, pony rides, horseshoe tournament and a climbing wall. Refreshments and food will be served along with fun activities for the entire family all day.

Josh Covert, the event organizer and fellow volunteer firefighter says, “Proceeds from the event go to the Fire Department for training purposes. In the past, we bought a CPR mannequin to teach the firefighters more about saving lives. Money from Salute to Summer helped make that possible. And Salute to Summer is a nice way to wrap up the warm-weather season in a friendly, safe environment that everyone can enjoy without breaking the bank. The rain date for the event is October 9, but we’re not going to need it because the weather is going to be wonderful.”
