Summer 2008
Prime Time Basketball League
This summer league features area male college players and recruits. The philosophy behind Prime Time is for players to develop good basketball habits by providing a structured environment where good decisions on the floor are rewarded and the emphasis is on the team rather than the individual.
Session: Middle of June through end of July

Photo-awcity
Get those cameras out! Everyone is encouraged to take photos throughout the community and submit their five favorite into our contest! Photo submission and registration required by July 14, 2008. Entries will be posted at the Rec. Center and judged on July 16, 2008 from 6:00-8:00PM.
Contest winners will be given a $25 gift certificate to the North Liberty Community Center and photo will be published in an upcoming brochure. No digital imaging is allowed, only original photos will be accepted. Photo size will be 5 x 7 or 8 x 10.

Discount Amusement Park Tickets
Get your tickets at the NL Community Center before you go to Adventureland in Des Moines and Lost Island Water Park in
Waterloo. Discounts are as follows:
Adventureland: $25/person; Free: 3 years old and under or 48 inches tall or less Class #: 6708.300
This is a savings of $2 for ages 4-8 and a savings of $6 for ages 9 and older.
Lost Island Water Park: $21/person. Free: 3 years old and under. Class #: 6709.300
This is a savings of $2 for all.
North Liberty Farmers’ Market
The North Liberty Farmers’ Market, sponsored by the City of North Liberty and the Recreation Department, is an open-air market held on the north parking lot of the NL Community Center. The market is intended to provide an opportunity for individuals to sell approved items that are grown or made by them. The offering for sale of any item acquired from others, either for resale or on consignment, is not permitted. The market is limited to individuals only; civic, fraternal or religious groups will not be permitted to sell.

Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run
This national skills program provides kids with the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting, and running abilities. Both North Liberty and Coralville Recreation Departments will host a local competition. Stay after the competition for a freeshowing of the movie The Rookie. Open to kids ages 7-14.

Family Pool Nights
Your family can enjoy a Sunday evening swim at the pool at a special rate. Kids pay regular price and parents get in FREE. Child to adult ratio must be met. Make sure lifejackets, floatable swim suits, and other inflatable toys have the Coast Guard approved stamp on them. Items not approved by the USCG and life rafts are not permitted in the pool.

adult.

Pass holders will also have to pay for this special event.

Hershey Track & Field Meet
This is a free event in which children can participate in up to three events with winners advancing to state and possibly national competition. Forms can be picked up at the North Liberty, Iowa City and Coralville Recreation Centers.

Splash-tacular Movies
Beat the heat by floating in the outdoor pool while watching a feature film. This North Liberty Aquatic Center event is for all ages, but participants must provide their own floatation devices if they wish to watch from the water.

Dog Days of Summer Class #: 6705.300
Meet fellow local dog owners and give your favorite canine a chance to mingle with other dogs in town! This activity will meet four times over the course of the summer. Proof of updated shots must be presented to Jason Egly at the NLCC and a liability waiver signed before your pet can be admitted into class. Iowa City residents must provide proof of Iowa City dog tags. North Liberty dogs must be registered with the City. All dogs enrolled must be friendly with other dogs and people and be on a leash at all times. Dogs of all ages and sizes welcome. If inclement weather, make-up days will be arranged. Limit of one dog per person.

North Liberty’s Great American Backyard Campout
Relive the simple life for a night with your own kids and grandkids when you join in National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Backyard Campout. Enjoy a night of backyard games, s’mores making, stargazing and enjoying the great outdoors on Recreation Center grounds. Bring your own tent and camping supplies.

Perennial Prance
Come take an interpretive stroll through the beautifully landscaped gardens of a couple local residents. Richard and Norma Novak as well as Bob and Sharon Brogan will lead this group to admire the flora that surrounds their respective homes. If you are not able to be on your feet for long periods, seating is available at the Brogan’s home.
