No
Equipment Pickup Fee for North Liberty
Subscribers in the North Liberty City Limits will not be charged a $9.99
equipment pickup fee if they decide to return a digital converter,
remote control or other equipment. Because there is no office in North
Liberty where subscribers can drop this equipment off themselves,
Mediacom is required to send a technician to pick up equipment free of
charge. Subscribers can also return equipment to Mediacom's Iowa City
office. This $9.99 pickup fee, which does not apply to North Liberty
residents, is different from the "downgrade fee" that Mediacom charges
if they are required to send a technician out when you change service to
Broadcast Basic. North Liberty subscribers are subject to this
"downgrade fee", like other area subscribers.
Mediacom Responds to Rising Programming Rates
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
is now accepting comments on proposed changes to rules governing media
ownership in the United States. If media consolidation is allowed to
continue, and especially if regulations governing the conduct of huge
media conglomerations are weakened, the cost of programming that
Mediacom and other providers purchase will rise unchecked. Please
click here to see information about
Mediacom's response to continually rising programming costs.
Digital Cable Required?
In order to receive HBO or
other premium channels, the subscriber is required to rent a digital
converter box and remote control, but it is not required that the
subscriber purchase other digital tiers of service unless they so
desire. Mediacom does allow subscribers to purchase Broadcast Basic
analog service (channels 2-22) and still subscribe to premium movie
channels. There are several ways you can purchase digital movie
channels, depending on if you wish to include rental of the digital
converter, remote control, pay-per-view access and interactive menu
features. To view the latest published channel lineup, please
